Journey So Far

In September 2003, Project 511 started working with a handful of Government schools near hitech city in Ranga Reddy district supported by corporates nearby and individual donors. These donors adopted one or more schools and donated accordingly with the minimum donation for each school being Rs.36,000/- The donation would typically cover the salary of an additional teacher and cleaning staff along with notebooks and stationery for the children.

In 2009, the Governing Council of Project 511 decided to shift from the School Adoption approach to benefit delivery to a Program based approach. This change in the policy was made for the following reasons:
  • Increase in the efficiency
  • Economies of scale
  • Measurement of impact
The benefits provided by Project 511 were then segregated into two categories – Infrastructure and Competency and it was decided to focus on only the following programs in Government Schools:

INFRASTRUCTURE BUILDING PROGRAMS    COMPETENCY BUILDING PROGRAMS
  Operation Blackboard   Mobile Science Lab

  Operation Sanitation   Operation Matriculation

  Operation Seating   Multimedia Teaching Aid
