Operation Blackboard
 
Blackboards are the bare minimum necessity for a school.
Irrespective of the availability of classrooms, every class must have a blackboard.

At most Government schools, the available blackboards are insufficient. Moreover some of the existing blackboards are not in a good condition and need to be repaired or replaced with new blackboards.

Under Operation Blackboard, Project 511 provides new cement blackboards and wooden blackboards with stands. Painting is done on existing blackboards where visibility is poor. Operation Blackboard has been completed in all the Government Schools under Project 511 where there was a requirement based on surveys conducted.
 
 
After completion in two phases which covered 177 and 93 schools in 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 respectively, all 312 government schools under Project 511 are today blackboard compliant. Operation Blackboard is in progress in the newly identified 199 Government schools for which funding is urgently required.
